Starting Hold'em Hands to Showdown

Here's a general scenario of what takes place from a starting Hold'em hand to the Hold'em showdown.

It all always begins with players being dealt with two cards each, face down. There is a 52-card deck in use, the joker eliminated. Hold'em is a closed type of poker because often the cards are revealed only at showdown time. The starting hands, which are also pocket cards, are the basis for what playing hands we will end up with. Thus, in Hold'em, a strong starting hand is always preferred.

Then the first betting round happens before the flop is dealt with. This is betting preflop. It starts with the person left of the big blind. When no big blind is assigned, we orient this from the dealer's position. This goes clockwise and doesn't stop until all the players have folded, have bet in all their chips, or a player have bet equal the amount of what active players have bet. Blinds are always live bettors preflop. A blind may check or raise if the big blind is called by the rest.

After the preflop bets, a flop is dealt. These are 3 cards on the board face-up. Then, a second round of bets. The second betting rounds and hence forth start with the player left of the dealer, and clockwise. Then, a board card is dealt—sometimes known as "the turn" or "fourth street"), then the third round of betting. The last board card is dealt, known as "the river" or "fifth street" and then the fourth round of bets. After this comes the showdown, or revealing of cards, if called for.

In casino practice, the dealer or button must burn a poker card preflop, at the turn, and at the river. Now, if we bet and all the rest fold, the last player standing gets the pot without showing any of this player's card. When two players remain, they should make full use of their Hold'em hands and whatever they can make out of the board cards.

They may use all of their two starting hole cards plus some board cards, or make out a final hand out of most of the board cards available. In this case, winning is said to played on the board, and the pot is therefore split between the two remaining players.

Thus, Hold'em hands played from beginning to end are strategically picked and composed poker cards to come up with the final winning Hold'em hands.
